I came to Canada carrying everything. My family, my education, my drive, and a deep belief that people deserved better systems. What I found was a world that wasn't built for me. Not for people who look like me, sound like me, or came from where I came from.
So I learned how these systems worked. And then I worked within them, designing programs, writing curriculum, building pathways for Black and racialized communities that kept getting left out of the conversation. For the length of a career, I did that work.
I am also a mother to neurodivergent children, one with ADHD and one with Autism. When I couldn't find books that truly saw my children, I wrote them. When I couldn't find mentorship that understood our family's reality, I built it. The GROW Seedlings series is not just a publishing project. It is what happens when a mother decides her children deserve to see themselves in every story they read.
GROW Equity Services is what happens when you stop waiting for the system to change and build the thing yourself. From a Jamaican mother who believes in belonging. For Toronto's Black communities and every family that has been told to wait their turn.
